Roma

Rome is a place EVERYONE should experience. The importance of this city in history is unparalleled and you can't help but feel it when you're there. This was by far Johnny's favorite city we visited. The overwhelming amount of artifacts and sites that have been preserved are just amazing, from Ancient Rome to the Vatican Museum it's all beyond anything we could have imagined. There's just something strange about standing in the place where Julius Caesar's ashes were spread or Bruno was beheaded.

As wonderful of an experience as it was, we were a little less than prepared for the start of our journey. Our flight into Rome was an hour and a half late, meaning we arrived at around 11:20pm. The currency exchange booths were closed, as was the transit. We barely made the last train into town but had no money (Euros) and no way to get to our hotel. We went on foot searching for an ATM only to find broken ones and eventually gave up, broke out the map and decided to walk/jog to the hotel. Johnny strapped one bag on his back, grabbed the other and we hoofed it for what seemed like an eternity down old streets (or alleys depending on how you wanna look at it). We found our street and an ATM at 1:00am, but our hotel was not where the map said it was going to be (a frequent re-occurrence on this trip). In the end, we did find it and were super thankful that Boris, our new friend on the night shift, was patiently waiting up for us before locking up. At last, we were in bed.

The next few days were full great sites and even greater food. Yes, we ate more than our share.
